Week 1 – Taking Chunks of History

I have heard of the Carlos Celdran Intramuros Tour.

Note:  heard.

I know there are rave reviews about it.  But I didn’t read them.  I have two friends who have invited to me to try this tour.  And today, I finally got to do it with one of them.

I googled the Celdran tour only to get the tour slot reservation confirmed.

heard good reviews about it but I never read them.  I know I would like it.  I want the experience to be uniquely and absolutely mine so I purposely skip the “tips” and “watch-out-for’s” that you would read in the internet.  Where to sit, where to stand, what to wear, what to bring (aside from camera), what to eat, where the washrooms are, I want to find out all of these all on my own (with the help of my companion, ahaha).  I want to be surprised (I was even surprised that the tour is three hours long).  I want to form my own description of the tour.  I want to see Philippine history in a different light.

The Walk This Way Tour  did not disappoint!  This was a great way to start my 2015.

I got immersed in the Philippine history whilst inside the historic walls of Intramuros.

Intramuros has always been intriguing to me.  And after this tour, it became even more so.  The chunks of history I took home today are invaluable.  And as I wrote in my TripAdvisor review, you’d get more than what you paid for.

I’m glad a guy like Celdran is doing this for us Filipinos to appreciate the colorful stories of the past and hopefully, to do better than the previous generation had.

Do the Walk This Way Tour too.  As soon as you can.  You’ll enjoy it.  But don’t take my words for it.  Do the tour yourself.
