Nuestra Señora de Candelaria Parish Church – Mabitac, Laguna

I have done Visita Iglesia many years ago in Rizal. On special occasions and special petitions, I visit as many as 7 churches.  Whenever I am in a new place, the church is one of the many things I visit.  There is something grounding and fulfilling when you visit the house of God.  For me, it’s a way also of thanking Him for guiding me until I get to His house.

I heard that my school was organizing one so I jumped on board.

This was our briefing in the morning of April 1, 2017. We were told that we are to reflect first when we get to our church-destination, and take photos later on

There were students, faculty member, and school personnel and their families

It is the first organized Visita Iglesia I have joined.  Nuestra Señora de Candelaria Parish Church or the Mabitac Church was the first in our list.

We went by the Rizal route.  The plan was to go to the farthest church first and we head down to the nearest one. And then we will go home via SLEX.

We left Makati at around 7:40 AM and headed for Marcos Highway. In Rizal, we passed through Antipolo, Teresa, Morong, Tanay and Pililia.  Mabitac is the municipality that is right next to Rizal.  It was about two and a half hours.

The Mabitac Church was the perfect kick off to our Visita Iglesia.

As soon as we got to the top of the hill, we gathered around to thank the Lady of Candelaria for our safe trip from Makati to Mabitac.  We also asked to light the rest of the way of our Visita Iglesia

The church has undergone many renovations already since its establishment in 1600s. The only original piece left is the belfry

The Mabitac Church was relocated on to the top of this hills  because of flooding problems in its original location. From where I took this photo, I reflected and prayed for my personal intentions.

There was a wedding when we visited.  But we went ahead on our personal reflection in whichever spot we find our peace.  After a few minutes, we headed our way to the second church, the Pangil Church.
