Waway’s Restaurant – Legazpi City, Albay

I was not blown away by this place.  This is the last restaurant that we ate at.  It pales in comparison to Alamo’s and Small Talk.  Waway’s Restaurant reminds me of Rose and Grace Restaurant you find in Southern Luzon.

Please remember to bring cash here. They don’t accept debit nor credit cards.  And there are no nearby ATMs.

Facade

From the warm weather outside, the air-conditioned restaurant is a welcoming experience.  We went ahead and selected our viands:  seafood, pork, vegetable,  you name it, they’ve got it.

Fully air-conditioned, this is definitely tourist-friendly

They’ve got tacky flowers on almost all tables.  Their prices are close to that too.

Choose from their array of Bicolano food
Mechado

Mechado is a safe choice to would go along with rice every single time!

Ensaladang lato (seaweed)

Lato is a type of round seaweed.  As ensalada, it works very well with fried fish.

Bicol express, a super spicy Bicolano delicacy

Bicol express is made of 90% chili, with 10% of it comprised by pork bits and coconut oil. This is one of the famous Bicolono dishes.  This dish is not for the faint-hearted.  Prepare a glass of water to put out the fire on your tongue!

Laing

Laing is made of taro leaves cooked in coconut oil.
